Title: admin-16-MySQL server has gone away ???
Post by: webmaster40 on October 31, 2007, 11:18:23 am
HELP! Paid for and received full installation - thank you.

Figured I would no problems going that route, BUT, after uploading a list, creating an email and trying to send - ran into SMTP issues. Thought I fixed those as the test FINALLY went ok... then as I tried to send the email to the list, got the following message:
-------------------------------
Checking mail... Cannot connect to mail.bytemetopia.com

Connecting to SMTP server... Connected!
Authenticating User/Pass... Authenticated!
admin-16-MySQL server has gone away
-------------------------------

PLEASE HELP - my client is NOT happy with the delay. Their email is time sensitive.

Thank you for your quick response.

Greetings,

It appears the MySQL server may be overloaded.  Please talk to the web host about the "MySQL server has gone away" error (MySQL docs (http://dev.mysql.com/doc/refman/5.0/en/gone-away.html)) and the possibility of optimizing MySQL so connections are not lost.

I suggest also that they check disk space, restart the MySQL service or web server or even do a full reboot.

Regards
