Title: Dailymail apppears to work but does not send emails
Post by: vsc1 on May 26, 2006, 12:11:55 pm
Hi,

Been at this for a few hours, and admit defeat.

Have just done a fresh install of v1.85

Added CRON job ... which appears to be calling the script:
(I had it go every minute)

195.178.106.5 - - [26/May/2006:18:54:01 +0000] "GET /mail/dailymail.php?pw=xxxxxx HTTP/1.0" 200 169 "-" "Wget/1.10.1 (Red Hat modified)"
195.178.106.5 - - [26/May/2006:18:55:01 +0000] "GET /mail/dailymail.php?pw=xxxxxx HTTP/1.0" 200 169 "-" "Wget/1.10.1 (Red Hat modified)"

But I'm not getting email confirmations.

If I do dailymail manually, I get an email.

I read in another post about using a 'curl' command.
Tried that, but it didn't work.

The command I'm using is:

/usr/bin/wget -O /dev/null -T 0 http://www.my-domain.co.uk/mail/dailymail.php?pw=xxxxxx 1> /dev/null 2> /dev/null

If it makes any difference, my domain name has a - in it.

Any adivce and suggestions gratefully received!

Thanks,

Vic

Hi Vic,

It seems by the webserver logs you provided the page is being called correctly with wget.  Are you sure the dailymail password is correct? Try a copy and paste from the command into ListMail.  You can set the task timing to * * * * * temporarily to run the task every minute and see if you receive a report.

Please let me know if you continue to have troubles.

Regards

Hello Dean,

Many thanks for replying promptly.

Strange this is - I did not touch the script, and it started working ... ?

Honestly, hadn't touched it, just left one command to process at 2 am, and for the last 3 days it's been working. (This is why I delayed in replying - wanted to make sure it was okay).

My only thought is that the hosting people did something? (I never contacted them about it though).

Anyway, fingers crossed it's okay now.

Best,

Vic

My hosting people add, change and restart things when they feel like it with no advice or notice.
This isn't a problem to me but they do seem to forget that people are using the servers.!
