Title: Intermittent sending by listmail
Post by: al on June 20, 2006, 03:24:56 am
There is a problem with my email server not sending out list mail messages.  I am baffled at why and would like some further guidance on what steps to take.  I'll explain the troubleshooting steps I have taken;

Ran test on email server using test function, response was;

[SMTP Server]
Is enabled?  Yes
Connecting to SMTP server.. Connected!
Sending test email to remote address.. Success!

If you receive an email at your "Remote Test Address" the SMTP server is configured correctly.

After about an hour I received the email saying it was ok.

I then use a test database which has 4 different emails on it, all on different domains and one on the same.

Try to send out an email to that list, doesn't arrive.  Try sending another one, and it goes through, an hour later.  It is really intermittent when it will send.

I have no problems sending out emails through my domain using POP, so the email server is running fine.

Through the above troubleshooting steps I took, it appears to be a problem with listmail.  I cannot find anything specifically in the forum which is why I'm emailing you.

I thank you in advance for your response and time.

Best Regards,

Al Hanzal

This is typical of an unoptimized cPanel-based server.  Is your server running cPanel?  Optimizations which result in immediate delivery of all email under cPanel (or servers using the same Exim mail software as used by cPanel) can be viewed in the following post:
