I just installed V1.8 for the first time. I am using Eclipse Hosting in Provo Utah to hosting my site.
I seem to have everything set up ok -- bounce works - signup works - and I can send email using "localhost" ---- However, when I attempt to connect to SMTP it connects to my email verifies my password and then when Connecting to SMTP server.. it reports "Could not find server!" --The SMTP server is not configured correctly. Check your settings.
My host tech support has offered help -- but they are not familiar with ListMail. Dean has offered a few hints --- at no avail --- I will be sending to a list of 15,000 plus email addresses and I really need to use SMTP --- Does anyone have a clue what is happening to me?

Do you have the same hostname in the SMTP section as you do in the Authorize by Checking Email section?

If I understand the question correctly, the answer is yes. As mentioned I seem to be able to do everything expect connect to the SMTP server.. it reports "Could not find server!" --The SMTP server is not configured correctly. Check your settings. I was even able to send a test email via ListMail using localhost.
Out of a slim chance that using a shared IP address on the site was the problem, I set it up again on another site I control that has a Dedicated IP address. With the same results ----- So twice I have set it up on different sites, and both times I am not able to connect to the server.
The Host service is Eclipse Hosting in Provo Utah for both sites. One oddity is in sitting up the email login -- they use a percentage (%) sign in place of the (@). ie you%yourdomain.com -- However, I do log on to the email account ok.
I really --- really need to resolve the issue – otherwise I don’t think ListMail will work for me with the size of my list.

Jim,
There is only so much I can do from the forum and communication isn't always quick. Would you mind sending your server details to me so I can take a closer look?

DW wrote in a support ticket off the forum:
Okay, I think I got it. I guess "localhost" isn't going to work. AUTH does not seem to be required.
Please let me know if you continue to have troubles.
Regards! Dean

I thought I had tried that but --- you made it work -- Thank you very much. I might add to the Kudos often written towards ListMail and DW --- From the time stamps on the test boucne emails --- DW worked late using the after midnight oil to help. I relly appreciated the assitance.
