Post by: coach-silvermac on June 07, 2005, 02:32:52 pm
hello - i keep getting this message no matter how i change the smtp settings:

[SMTP Server]
Is enabled?  Yes
Connecting to SMTP server.. Connected!
Sending test email to remote address.. Problem setting receiver to Remote Test Address
The SMTP server is not configured correctly. Check your settings.

can you let me know what I need to do or ask about from my host?

hi dean, i've read those and just finding myself more confused...
it seems a common problem is if the administrator address is not a 'real' address set up on the server - in this case i know it is.

my bounce is currently disabled.

i've tried every combination of having just 'localhost' and no passwords, to having my mail host info with passwords, auth check on, checked off, 'authorize by email' check on, checked off - i've tried what i think is every possible config that i know of..

except - i have no idea if how or what i should maybe change the port number to?

i've looked at a number of other clients who have listmail and tried to copy their settings, hoping something would work - but nothing has kept me from getting that error message when i do a test. :(

and sending to my test list didn't work, so i'm assuming i need to have this remote test working before I can send anything through smpt for real?

so i gave up and sent the php way since the list i was sending to only has 100 subs. but, it's slow so i want to get this set up properly..

any other suggestions?

tks

Sorry about the delay.  Since this is taking way too long, why don't you submit your server information (http://listmailpro.com/support?t=other) to me so I can take a look?  Please include a note that I mentioned I would do this for you and provide a link to this post.

Regards!
