Someone sent a spam message to a valid email address on our server. It bounced (no idea why), but more importantly, it caused ListMail to remove this address from one of the lists. Here is the message:
From: ListMail Notification
Sent: Thursday, December 15, 2005 11:37 AM
Subject: List 2: Bouncing User Removed
A user has been removed from your list: Contributor Newsletter
Their information was as follows:
Email: <snip>
First Name: Amy
Last Name: Ewart
IP Address: Unknown
Ref. URL: Manually Added
---------- The bouncing message follows ----------
<snip>
Any ideas on why/how this could happen?

You should probably edit or remove your original post because it contains sensitive data.
This can happen if a spammer sends email to your bounce address. The bounce script simply reads the 2nd "To:" line in the email (The "To:" in the headers of the email RETURNED by the bouncing mailer). It's possible the script is taking into account To: headers even when there is NOT TWO of them. I will check into this and let you know if I can stop it.

Me too...
It's unsubscribing my own email address from my own lists. Any ideas?

This now happens several times a week. It always bounces the same address, which happens to belong to my VA, and what's really strange is that her address is already bounced...it just keeps giving us the message every time. Weird.
