Title: Strange sign-ups on my lists

Hi,

I've been noticing some spurious sign-ups to my various lists lately. I have email list sign-ups at various client sites. Lately I've been getting bunch of junk sign-ups, particularly from @mail.ru and other free/international email hosts. Funny thing is that they're junk emails, like 'jim@hotmail.com' that just bounce back after the confirmation.

Has anyone else noticed this trend? Could it be just spammers looking for a referrer? I can't think of why they would waste their time on this.

This is a problem faced by a lot of list owners.  Are all of the signups from the same IP?  Until a banned address feature is implemented you might block them with the method noted in this post:
