Important Suggestions From Satisfied User
« on: August 31, 2005, 12:40:06 am »
The program is working very well for me.  It is saving me a lot of time and effort and working like a charm.  The amount of effort it must have taken to develop this surely must have been phenomenal.

However, I do have some suggestions, which would make the program much more user-friendly.  I think I posted a couple of these a few months ago, but since the changes still haven't been made, I thought I'd re-post.

Very Important:
1) Changing Information

Changing information should be easier.  The program doesn't allow the user to change information on more than one thing at a time.  This seems to be the case everywhere that changing information is allowed.  For example, when I want to change some First Names of members, I have to do it one at a time.  When I want to delete members, I have to delete them one at a time.  This takes up an incredible amount of time, especially when you have an ezine with a thousand or more subscribers.

Very Important:
2) Disabling/Enabling Followups

Followup messages should have the ability to be Disabled and Enabled, like Getresponse does, with checkboxes.

Also, when a new followup is added, but is placed somewhere in the middle of the sequence, instead of on the end, the followup messages ahead of this new followup should automatically be incremented up one, i.e. their sequence numbers should each move up one in number, automatically.  Right now I have to do this manually.  And it is somewhat tedious.

Important:
3) Showing More User Information

More user information should be shown on demand, without the need for exporting.  For example, let's say I have a list of people who requested catalogs.  And let's say I want to know what type of catalog a certain person requested, and I have created a user-defined field where that information is stored.

The way it is now, I can't just do a search using that person's email address or first or last name, and then scroll to what type of catalog they requested, in the result of the search.  The program doesn't perform this way.  It makes it very difficult for me to find out what type of catalog they requested, what exactly is in that user-defined field.

Not too important:
4) Ability To Create More Complex Forms

This one is just a fantasy of mine.  It's not that important because I can usually figure out on my own what to do to make the HTML input form look like I want.  However, it would be really, really, really, really nice if the part of the program that produces the input HTML form would be capable of formatting that form, according to user instructions.

For example, maybe I want my form to be blue with green borders, with Verdana 10-pt. font.  And maybe I want some columns to be centered, not left justified.  Etc., etc.

This would be like a program within a program.  And I've been looking for such a program for a long time now, to no avail.  It would be sort of a form creator helper.

Well, that's it.  Thanks for making the script!

These are some excellent suggestions indeed!  I agree that the changes mentioned would take ListMail up a notch in terms of ease-of-use and style.  I will see what I can do.  8)
