Follow Ups or Scheduled Emails-Set by "total" days

Hi Dean,

Everything is going really well with the latest release, 1.85

I wanted to know if there was a way or if it has already been suggested to have followups delayed by "total days".  Another words, when you put a delay of 31 it will always be delayed 31 days from the initial start date.  If you have a delay of 60 it would always be 60 days after initial start date, not after previous "followup" date...so on and so on.  So the first year followup would be a delay of 365. (leap years not that important right now)

This is very usable when you are sending out emails based on an individuals sign up (or input) date.  I want to be able to schedule quarterly, yearly etc followups but if I decide to put a followup somewhere in between other dates, I would not want the other followups to change their place in the sequence.

I hope you understand what I am asking and I am not sure if this can already be done or has already been requested...

Hi Dean,

I know we have discussed this feature in some other posts...but I was curious if this will become an "option"...It could really be useful!

Also another topic we have discussed before...I still think it would be a really GREAT idea to give an "estimated time-line" of "probable" features...and to do more releases with less updated features...It just seems to make a lot of sense and I think this would be a real "plus" for customers. :D

I would also love to have this option.

Would it be possible to have a setting in the config that sets the delay field to be based on the signup date or the preceding followup?  The setting could be stored in a PHP file so it won't add another query to the mailing process.

The default value of this setting could indicate that the delay value is based on the preceding followup, and dailymail would decriment the value each day as it does now.

An alternate value of this setting could indicate that the delay value is based on the signup date, and dailymail would add the delay value to the signup date and check to see if the result is equal to the current date.

By having the delay based on the signup date, then it would be very easy to add followups in the middle of a sequence without any issues.

And by giving users a choice, they can continue as they are now, or switch to the alternate system.

Makes sense to me.

I just thought of another possibility.

To implement this feature, there could be a new database field that holds the number of days since signup.  Then dailymail could increment this field each time and query the database for followups that equal this number.

This way, the math is limited for speed, and the database is only marginally larger.

My idea is to have it based on "date added to list"...so if this is the original signup date, that's great...but in some instances it's needs to be based on "date added to list".

This way if you were moving an existing client from one list to another and on the list they were added to, you wanted the sequence to be based on "total days" from day added to list.  So they would start at the first followup in the sequence etc and follow through the entire series of emails...

We are probably talking about the same thing...but I just want to make sure :D ...

A variation of this that I am interested in is to be able to send an email on a specific date as opposed to a specific number of days since signup.

Is this available? Or is it feasible?

I think  "Schedule Email" should work for you.  It's one of the selections on the left side of "ListMailPro"...
