FAST Double Opt-In Confirmation using CRON?

Hi DW,

Ok, regarding this, I don't see a way to set it up so ANYONE that needs to do double opt-in will get their first Confirmation Email IMMEDIATELY?

This is very important since you usually want to give the first time user their first email FAST...  Is there any way to do this?

I'm wondering if this could be done using CRON, right now with the autoresume feature (mine runs every 5 minutes),  why not provide an option to add an additional check in there, IF it is configured that way to just send out the Confirm IMMEDIATELY, so for me this would happen at least within 5 minutes, the Confirmation would go out - THEN, one more thing, I need the VERY FIRST Message to also go out IMMEDIATELY, so for example:

user sign up -1:16pm
user receives confirmation: 1:20pm (via CRON call in autoresume)
user confirms - 1:23pm
user receives first message - 1:25pm (via CRON call in autoresume?)

So you see - ALL within the first 10 minutes the user has confirmed and received his/her first message....

AFTER THIS, I don't care, the emails can go out as usual at the normal CRON time when dailymail runs...

One other thing interesting to think about (though not required - I believe it would increase sales since the person is more likely to be reading their email at the same time each day), would be IF you could setup 15minute, 30minute, or even 60minute bins where the user would ALSO receive ALL of their followups at the same time each day... I know that would be a HUGE pain to program - so don't worry about it right away, but please consider the first option, since if I do NOT see this, I'm going to have to purchase another auto-responder JUST to do the Confirmation and First Email...

The confirmation email should go out immediately - it's sent just before the user is shown the "Subscribe Confirm" custom HTML page.

Sending an additional email upon signup is not yet possible.  I've considered ways to achieve this in the past, such as allowing a followup with Seq #0.  Now that I think of it, that probably wouldn't be the best way to go about it.  What about an "additional Welcome message" on the List Settings page?

I'm not sure what you mean by the timing changes.  The user should/would receive the message at the same time each day with the current implementation of dailymail.  Are you proposing that we somehow 'detect' when the user is reading and send at the same time each day?

Yes, since someone subscribing to an email at 1pm (or 8am, or whenever), is MORE likely to actually read another email coming to them at the exact same time, especially when you consider world time zones...

There are some autoresponders that do this already.

Actually, having just 1 Welcome message is enough, now that I see how this works.  There is probably some value in having 2, but for now, just the one will suffice for me... It would be kind of nice though to have,

1.) Welcome to our list followup

followed by...

2.) Here's your first lesson followup,

So, keep that in mind, I do see what you mean though, this definately belongs on the List Settings screen.

great idea. Once confirm and welcome, subscriber is actually in a very good mood and ready to read more. at this time, send them the first letter will definitely increase their purchase mode or so...
