BUG? Inserting Followups - Input Needed
« on: July 15, 2006, 06:39:39 pm »
I have a list with 11 follow-ups.  I am now trying to insert a follow-up in location 3.  Most of the people on this list are due to receive followup 8.  According to the online help "When you click Save you will be presented a warning box informing you that your existing users will be automatically re-arranged upon insertion of the followup.  When a followup is inserted all followups with the target or higher seq # increment by one along with their users."  Unfortunately this was not my experience.

After saving, I did not receive a warning box and, and now have two followups with sequence number 3 and all of my users with the target sequence number and higher were not re-arranged.  I did get a message that 71 users were renumbered, but there are over 1000 that have sequence number 3 or higher.  I can renumber the other sequence numbers (3+) so that the sequence is correct, but from what I can tell every user that was currently on 3+ will receive a duplicate message (e.g., if they were waiting for message 7, message 6 has now been renumbered by 7).

What can I do about this?

I'm running v1.84 on Dreamhost (don't think this will matter).

Greetings,

Does your browser allow JavaScript?  I believe a popup was still shown in v1.84.  In all this time I've never had a report of a problem with the feature.  What's strange is that you were able to create a duplicate Seq # in v1.84 when this feature was added in v1.86..  I recommend updating to v1.86b or higher and making sure JavaScript works in your browser.. ie, when deleting a list or user, for example, do you see an "Are you sure?" message?

Unfortunately there doesn't seem to be a way to determine what happened or which users were renumbered.  If I were you I would probably just delete the duplicate followup...

If you can recreate the problem with a test list and send me the exact steps you took and resulting action I can investigate further.

Arggggh.

I upgraded to 1.86b.

For lists other than my main list I get the message about overwriting when I try to save a duplicate sequence number.

For my main list, I don't get that message - so I get duplicate message numbers but no way to update users.

I know this is probably not a traceable error/fluke and I may be the only one to ever experience this issue, but I didn't know that going in.

Hello,

I am having sporadic problems with inserting followups.  I keep getting duplicates when I am trying to insert a followup between existing followups.  The first time I insert everything works as planned, but after the first instance of inserting is when the problem starts and I start getting duplicates.

Then when I try to delete the duplicate, the new followup gets deleted but the duplicate is replaced by one of the old followups, so there is still a duplicate.  Again, this is not every time but it always happens after just a few instances of inserting followups (at least for me).

That's my 2 cents...

Don

I will try to recreate this error but if you can determine the exact steps to recreate it on a test list it would help immensely.

DW,

I haven't found an exact way to duplicate but I haven't really worked at it.  I am still having the problem...but when it happens I just get out of the"followup" section and then go back to the "followup" section and it seems to work again...not sure why, but it sort of resets itself.

I love the feature and it is working, just not 100%...but I still love it.  It is definitely not at the top of my list of things for you to work on...
