User Selection and link tracking
« on: March 25, 2005, 02:08:43 pm »
Will we be able to use User Selection to email only those people who clicked on a particular tracked link?

Thanks

Dean

I forgot about this one, I will see if I can work it in before v1.8 goes 'current'.

How could you forget about it! :-)

Seriously, I think the link tracking feature is potentially one of the most powerful features of listmail. It's perfect for building sublists of interested people from your main list.

I couldn't agree more here!  This feature alone would knock the socks off of anything else on the market, would request if you can tie it in with any other click/based tracking service such as AdTrackz?  If so, how?
Thanks,
-Brett

I will be enhancing this largely neglected part of the program very soon.

Hi DW,

I suggest you look at AdTrackz which is an incredible program, maybe you can work something out with Jonah the author of that to include AdTrackz and you provide linking in LMP that allows us to create rules based on AdTrackz tracking?

You can find out more about AdTrackz here:

AdtrackZ has some nice features, but for the money Dynatracker has far greater reporting features.

I will check out AdtrackZ and consider it for a partner, thanks for the recommendation(s)!

As for being able to selectively send to users who have clicked on a certain link- Now that I think about it, this will be difficult for me because it will require a new type of MySQL query. (I don't even know what type will be best here). I'm going to have to read up on some MySQL tutorials before I can put this in.  I'm thinking I should increase the default value of tracked hits kept in the database to prevent undesired results with this feature.

While I would love to have been able to work on and complete this right now, it's getting late and I need sleep :|.  I'll try to get it in very soon, maybe even tomorrow.

I'm on a roll, I just completed updating the scheduler main page [see latest download] and am motivated to do even more ASAP!

If it would be simpler for you, I'd be happy with an easier way to just extract a list of the users who clicked on a given link. I can then manually place them in another list.

I do this right now by sorting the tracked links by link name (& show 1000 per page) and then copy and pasting into an Excel spreadsheet. After some fiddling around and column deleting I have a list of targeted  subscribers. It's not pretty, but it works.

Hi DW,

Just checking on how this feature is coming along, also regarding the previous post:

I agree on this too, if you can provide us with a SQL select that will pull users based on link (or group of links) clicked and copy them to a temp list that would work too  :D   Hopefull that wouldn't be too bad?

Please keep us updated on how this feature is going...
Thanks,

This one's right near the top of the list and will be coming soon.  In the meantime, you might find this post useful:
