Embedded images?
« on: June 02, 2006, 03:02:35 am »
Hi

I'm just getting to grips with the system, loving it so far :)
I've done a quick forum search and can't find anything referring to embedded images. Your help file says this isn't possible at the moment but is this something that might be coming? I don't know much about the technical problems this would require you to overcome, but I've received a couple of emails recently that have had a few GIF's inline and they make a massive difference to the initial visual impact (compared to emails that refer to external images) after Outlook has stripped all the images out. Is this at all feasible?

Thanks!

Thank you for your kind comments!

Unfortunately I don't see this coming soon as increasing the message size by such a factor can cause a number of problems and delays at your web host.  Try sending a message with even a small (10k-50k) attachment.  The mailing speed (for ALL users on a shared server) is often greatly affected by such inclusions.

This feature is still under consideration for the future and your writing has helped it's chances of being implemented.

Hi

Thanks for the reply, I see your point and definately wouldn't want to cause performance problems on a shared server. However, its entirely possible that people with their own servers might want to take the route of sending email at a greatly reduced rate (or already do to avoid getting in trouble with whoever gets annoyed at high-rate sending) and take advantage of increasing the 'value' of each mail being sent. I guess this would only be applicable to people with relatively small lists or long sending periods... anyway thats enough thinking out loud for today ;)

I've made do with just setting background colours and using the various style options to cover the missing images until they can be loaded, thats doing well enough for now!

Cheers!
