Sign-up Does Not work
« on: May 14, 2007, 12:48:11 pm »
I have done everything per instructions, and I get this far:

Testing mail servers..

[Bounce Handling]
Is enabled? Yes, Using bounce.cgi
Sending TESTBOUNCE email to bounce address.. Success!

If you receive an email at your "Administrator Email Address" bounce.cgi is configured correctly.

[SMTP Server]
Is enabled? Yes
Connecting to SMTP server.. Connected!
Sending test email to remote address.. Success!

If you receive an email at your "Remote Test Address" the SMTP server is configured correctly.

1. I DO NOT receive an Email at "Administrator Email Address"
2. I DO Receive Success message at Remote test Adress.

Now when I fill out the Subscribe form I DO Get This message (on the Next web page):

Karlo ,

Before we add you to our database, we must verify your email address. Please check your email for the confirmation message and click the link provided to finalize your subscription.

But After that, Zilch, Nada, Nothing happens?

I am trying to subscribe (to a list I created), by email, and also by web form. Neither way works, and my subscribed email address DOES NOT show-up in that list's database?

I have no clue as to what the problem might be?

Thank you
Karlo

Hi Karlo,

This indicates that your bounce address does not have a working forwarder to forward email to the bounce.cgi script.  That, or the "/usr/bin/wget" system utility, used by bounce.cgi may not be available.

This could mean "PHP mail" is not working on the server - PHP mail is used for confirmation, welcome and some notifications.  PHP mail is used when manually adding a user to a list and sending them the welcome message, too, so you can use that to test it.  If you cannot get a welcome message out then I recommend talking to your host about the possibility of a problem with PHP mail.

I highly recommend using a non-free (Yahoo, AOL, etc) when testing subscription to your list(s) to prevent undeliverables due to rate-limiting, temporary blocks, etc.

With confirmation enabled for your list you will need to change the "Status" dropdown on the User Database page from "Active" to "Unconfirmed" to see the user.

Please let me know if I can be of further assistance!
