ISP won't Allow CRON jobs
« on: November 02, 2005, 02:51:03 am »
HI

I have been told by my ISP (Zen Internet) that they will not allow CRON jobs because of security issues and that many other  ISP's don't allow this either. I don't really want the hastle of moving ISP's so is there another way to use the schedual emials feature?

Thanks

Greetings!

If you have a dedicated internet connection at home, you might run your own scheduled task.

Here's the help page:

Please let me know if I can be of further assistance!

Are you sure you have properly selected wget.exe at the correct location for the scheduled task?

From DOS you should be able to run the command as follows and as entered in your scheduled task.

c:\winnt\wget.exe -T 0 -q -O c:\mycron.txt http://www.yoursite.com/mail/dailymail.php?pw=YourDailyPass

If you don't receive an error message, check the c:\mycron.txt file to see if there's anything wrong there.  If not, and if the scheduled task is set up correctly as per the help, it should be working ok.
