Adding Features for an E-Mail to a Subscriber List
« on: November 14, 2006, 11:32:33 am »
First time on forum.
No technical expertise whatsoever. :(
Am wanting to send my first e-mail to one of my subscriber lists, but do not know how to activate resources to:
1) have each e-mail receipent's first name in my greeting to them,
2) set e-mail up with an opt-out feature and confirm of their opt-out.
Please do not tell me to read instructions.  I went to the Global Message Codes, and it does not give the how-do to activate them.  I do not know if I am supposed to input HTML code (which I do not know), or click some automated buttons to set this up.
Is there someone, anyone, who can give me a clear, concise step-by-step procedure to get done what I want done?

Hi Ed and Welcome to the forum!

I will try to help but I am sure others can explain it easier than I can.

You do not have to turn on the global codes as they are already activated for you.  You only need to plug them into the email you are going to send out.

For instance, if you want their first name to be inserted for you use the global code !fname

To make it easier to use global codes, when you login, select the list you want to mail to, then click on send an email, in the top right hand corner above the email subject line there is a place to click to view message codes along with an explanation of what each code will insert for you.

The !remove code inserts the remove/unsubscribe link for you.

Until you get more familiar with the program just play with it and send yourself some emails.  You can even setup a list with only you as the subscriber if you prefer not to use the preview button below the email boxes.  It may be the easiest way for you to learn the program.

I am sure others will have some more suggestions for you but this may help you to get started.  I'm sure you will find it a very easy program to work with.
Yahoo email is like shooting craps...something I prefer not to do!
