all working exept cron
« on: May 21, 2008, 06:06:12 am »
i dont know if anyone can help.
I have got everything working, but the problem i get is setting up cron.
i have got the server people that say they have set it up right but it still does not work on the timer.

I asked the server people to please check it and the reply was.

"I've tried running the command directly through a browser but it seemed to
time out so i'm wondering if whatever it's trying to do is taking to long to
execute and never completing. Please let me have some further details and i'll take another look."

The people i use for my server are very helpfull and will do anything in there power to help me as it is a dedicated server. So i know they are not messing me about.

Please help.

Thanks
Paul

Hi Paul,

Some ListMail scripts need to run longer than 30 seconds and some servers are not configured to allow this by default.  Please ask your host about disabling "PHP safe mode" for your domain, which might allow the script to run as long as expected.

Are you using the mailbox method of bounce processing and/or sending tens of thousands of followups?  These are time consuming processes.

Hi Paul,  have been unexpectedly away.  The task your host set up looks like exactly what you need.  Please let me know if you require further assistance.
