Attention: You have items in the outgoing queue

Dear Dean,     02 October 2004 01:19:18 Central Daylight Time

I just started using the followup messge emails section and I am getting the following message:

Attention: You have items in the outgoing queue. Some mailings may be in progress.
 
Type           Subject       Messages Left    
Dailymail        N/A            5                   Resume | Cancel
Dailymail        N/A            6                   Resume | Cancel
Dailymail        N/A            6                   Resume | Cancel
Dailymail        N/A            6                   Resume | Cancel

The above list grows longer everyday! What going on and what if anything should I do?

Frank,

It appears that your SMTP server may not be configured correctly.  The messages are being queued but not sent.  What happens if you try to use "Send Email" to a test list containing some test addresses?  Do they get through even to test accounts at yahoo or hotmail?

Yes, the "Test Mail Settings" states that everything is working. I have created a test list and the followups are being sent to me.

Here is the response from "Test Mail Settings":

[Bounce Mailbox]
Is enabled?  Yes
Connecting.. Connected!
Verifying username and password... Verified!
The bounced message mailbox is configured correctly.

[SMTP Server]
Is enabled?  Yes
Connecting to SMTP server.. Connected!
Sending test email to admin.. Success!
The SMTP server is configured correctly.

The "Attention: You have items in the outgoing queue. Some mailings may be in progress" is getting longer since my last post, but the numbers have changed.

Here is what it looks like today.

Type Subject Messages Left
Dailymail N/A 2 Resume | Cancel
Dailymail N/A 5 Resume | Cancel
Dailymail N/A 6 Resume | Cancel
Dailymail N/A 1 Resume | Cancel
Dailymail N/A 6 Resume | Cancel
Dailymail N/A 6 Resume | Cancel


I tried using the Cancel button and it says "Que entry deleted" but I see no changes.]

When I use the "Send Mail" function I get the following response:

Connecting to SMTP server... Connected!

If your mailing stops for any reason, close the window or click here . Do NOT Refresh!

Sending Mail 0  of 3..

Finished sending!

I tried the click here link but got no response.

Although it is indicating that 0 of 3  emails were sent, in reality I received all three emails

The Attention outgoing queue is getting bigger with each mailing.

It appears that things are working, except this erroneous queue and  Send  Email messages.

Addendum #2 message queue problem

Dean,

I created a new admin user and password and played with the permissions a bit and now I can cancel and delete the queue list.

I will wait to see if the problem with the queue resurfaces.

When I "Send Mail" it still says 0 of 3 sent, but all three are sent.
