When I try to send a mailing out it stops and I receive this error:

Sending error. Check your mail settings.

Queue Row: queueid=78f618e8ea0e7a5342abc8809e6b7371 msgtype=1 userid=179889 msgid=10 email=xxxx@xxxxx.com)

The list is approx 20,000. I am sending using my smtp server.

under 'Mail Sending Method'
try checking [Authorize by Checking Email] and fill out the line below it.

SMTP sending - This option is highly recommended. Sometimes, a setting of "localhost" as your host, with no additional authorization, works best. If a remote test does not succeed, you may need to enable AUTH to validate your username and password. Furthermore, your host may or may, or may not, use "POP checking" for authorization. This is where the server allows people who have checked mail recently to send email for a certain amount of time. To be sure, check your host's mail sending FAQ. If your server calls for you to check email every 20 minutes, for example, enter "19" in the "Every X mins" option for the feature

Thank you to the other user who posted a suggestion.

This indicates that you need to lower the following setting on the Config page, SMTP section:

"Reconnect every X emails"

Try setting this from the default, 2500, to 1000 a common (CPanel) limitation.

I made the configuration changes you suggested. I set the  "Reconnect every" to 500 to play it safe. The program still stalled out after sending approx 2000 out of a small list of 14000 mails.

I have read that some users are sending as much as 500k so I assume that the program should be able to handle a  list of 14000 easily.  Is there any other suggestions or ideas to resolve this issue.

Is the error message the same?  "Too many messages this connection", or is it another, possibly unspecified, error?

If it's the same you might have to lower the setting even further.
