« on: April 27, 2005, 12:37:33 pm »
Hi
I am having some trouble with LM configuration
Today i was going to send out my first newsletter using LM but when i went to send it i got an error message

Sending error. Check your mail settings.

Queue Row: queueid=915acd11fe36fda48487472f23106ea8 msgtype=1 userid=630 msgid=7 email=enoc2222@yahoo.com)

Server said:503 RCPT first (#5.5.1)

So i went to configuration and checked evrything and i couldn't find anything wrong so i tested the mail settings and got another error

Testing mail servers..

[Bounce Handling]
Is enabled?  Yes, Using bounce.cgi
Sending TESTBOUNCE email to bounce address.. Success!

If you receive an email at your "Administrator Email Address" bounce.cgi is configured correctly.

[SMTP Server]
Is enabled?  Yes
Connecting to SMTP server.. Connected!
Sending test email to remote address.. Problem setting receiver to Remote Test Address
The SMTP server is not configured correctly. Check your settings.

Does anybody know what i'm doind wrong ?
Is there anything i need to change?
I really need some help here because my boss already thinks i have a newsletter but i don't yet so... Please i would REALLY apreciate a QUICK reply

Thanks in advance
Oliver

Sorry no one has got back to you yet... it's unusual.
I saw this earlier but didn't answer because I don't know what the answer is.!
As you are in a hurry... I will just say that some of these problems seem to be authentication on the server. I don't know about this one, but if you are desperate... you could just look in Mailing List Settings and check if Send as Email address is a valid address on the server that List Mail is on. I think I remember that might be needed.
It's late and I am tired so this could be wrong or nothing to do with it but if you have nothing else to go on you could take a look there anyway.
Good luck. (look through the forum, there are some alternative solutions mentioned.)

By the way: Thought I had better repeat - I really don't have a clue about your error - what I said is just a guess.

Hi Oliver,

It looks like ListMail and the server are not communicating smoothly or, as Trevor mentioned, you're not authenticated properly.

First of all, have you upgraded to the latest files from the members area?  (I am not sure that you have considering the error message.)

Another possibility is what is mentioned in this post.

If you have tried my suggestions and continue to have troubles please submit a tech support request.

That's good news.
Sorry I was so tired last time.
I am in UK and it was night  (well early morning) here.
If you didn't get to do the upgrade, be sure to as there are more features added.
If you did it I expect you will be very happy when you find them.
I am so impressed with ListMail and what DW has done that I couldn't help mentioning that to you. I should have thought to mention the new version earlier..!
All the best.
