You may need to repair your database.  With PhpMyAdmin, likely accessible from your control panel, run the following command after selecting your ListMail database:

repair table lm_users

root> mysql
Welcome to the MySQL monitor.  Commands end with ; or \g.
Your MySQL connection id is 291 to server version: 3.23.56

Type 'help;' or '\h' for help. Type '\c' to clear the buffer.

mysql> use mailerdb
Reading table information for completion of table and column names
You can turn off this feature to get a quicker startup with -A

Didn't find any fields in table 'lm_users'
Database changed
mysql>

Very strange.  Did you try running the repair command?

use mailerdb;

repair table lm_users;

what happens if you do the following

use mailerdb;

show tables;

explain lm_users;

VERY STRANGE INDEED!!!

I'VE BEEN DOWN FOR WEEKS WITH THE SAME PROBLEM!!!

You said that you would log in and check it out.  That was weeks ago...  I've heard nothing of it.

We have run all the repair commands. They fix it for a moment.  Then I try to delete a list or import a list and bang..  corrupted again.

I know that sql has no size limits as far as the database. Does ListMail? I assume that it's only limits are that of sql...?  my 15 or so current lists total maybe one million records.  The machine is a dual Xeon 2.0 1 Gig RAM w/ 2 80 GIG RAID1 HD's.

Again, this is how I make my living, it is not a hobby...  Is this software a hobby for you?

Will you PLEASE help me to fix this problem?  Again I have said previously that I will be happy to PAY YOU!!!  so what is the problem??  What I am paying in dead server rental and not to mention lost revenues...  ugggg

I'm sure if we take a minute and put our heads to this, we can solve it.

thanks
Russ

ps  I know now what caused the problem in the very first place.  I was importing a list - pulling it down from the server, when I clicked a hotlink elsewhere and it pulled up the browser that was doing the import. Once the import browser was interupted, it was screwed...

Russ,

I was awaiting your reply in the support ticket.  Your site seems operational now - I will give it another look.

It is very rare that a database becomes corrupted this often, even with over a million users.

database is corrupt and won't repair
« Reply #6 on: August 02, 2004, 11:13:17 pm »
Hi Dean,

I have a situation where the database has gotten corrupt and no matter how many times we run the PhpMyAdmin, repair table lm_users it is not fixing. We have rebooted and rerun and still no go..

When I told you before that we were not having luck w/ the repair, you asked:

what happens if you do the following:  use mailerdb;  show tables; explain lm_users;

my tech reports that "it is giving no result"

can you please login and see if you can figure out how to straighten the db out?

thanks
Russ

I can't seem to access your site at this time.  It is not normal for MySQL tables to become corrupted so often.  I wonder if your server's MySQL is up to date or if there is a hard drive problem..

last nite my tech did all he could, and it didn't work, hitting user db button got us the message:   Warning: mysql_num_rows(): supplied argument is not a valid MySQL result resource in /var/www/(Link: www.yellowleafpromo.com/mailer/edituser.php)www.yellowleafpromo.com/mailer/edituser.php on line 1449

so I posted the previous post and went to bed.  Well, overnite it healed itself! sort of..  Now the user database shows up and you can see the subscribers, all looks fine.  I sent a test to myself and looks fine..  BUT - when I click on the unsubscribe link, nothing happens. I paste the remove url into a browser and nothing happens - green dot freeze.

I had so many problems with that previous server that I switched servers.  How do I get you the login for my current machine to you?

thanks

dang, what a drama this is!!!

this morning (wed aug 4), I sent another test and now the remove links are working fine...

BUT, since sending the test email, now when I hit any "user db", it goes into a "green dot freeze" and won't show the people in the db...

can you login and see if you see the problem?

thanks
