.CSV file won't import users

Hi there

I have just updated my mailing list to a .CSV file and want to import it to ListMail Pro, but following the import I have now lost all the records and just have one name on my database.  I ticked 'DELETE ALL USERS' box and 'Send an email to the administrator.'

Please let me know what I need to do (an Idiots Guide would be good) as I followed the instructions on the Managing Users guidelines.

Also, do the counters work yet? as it shows I have 1108 good users and 21 bad addresses, so where is my list of addresses?

Greetings,

From what you describe it sounds like you are brought to the 'field match' page after uploading or specifying your file to import.  On this page you must match at least one field to "Email Address".  If you fail to match at least one field to "Email Address" you may experience the result your described.  Please make sure you are specifying this field and let me know if you continue to have toubles.

I matched CustomerSurname, CustomerFirstname and EmailAddress.  It doesn't bring in our database.

I would also like to know how I can match other fields from my .CSV file to the set one up in ListMail?

I have also emailed you with our specific details as we have moved server and this may impact on things?

It does sound like you are doing it right.  I received your email and am asking for more information (so I can troubleshoot) there.

As well as first and last name and email address, each list can have up to 10 custom fields.  To enable a field, browse to the "List Settings" -> "Custom Fields" page and enter a name for your desired field(s).

You should be able to import data into any of these fields simply by matching it up on the 'field match' page during import.

I think my email reply bounced...  I hope I'm not mixing up clients here... :)

I made a fatal mistake when I performed the migration of your old database to the new server.  Specifically, the “auto_increment” setting on the “id” fields for various MySQL tables was not properly carried over from the old server.  This is what was affecting the file upload/import and would have affected a number of other ListMail processes.

The solution is/was to remove the new database and again migrate the old one.

1. Since I had to destroy and recreate it, I made a backup of your most recent database on my server just in case there are some things / changes that were very time consuming for you or in case users subscribed, etc.  Let me know if this is true and what data you changed / added and I can go through the new backup and extract those operations line by line.

2. I then reloaded the database from the old server (I happened to have had a good, non-flawed copy of this on my local computer still, from when I did this the first time, and did not perform a new dump from the old server)

3. Next I configured the program, renamed List 1 to “Red Apron 2”, set up the “Example Field” custom field to read “Card Number” (as I noticed you had it) and performed the import of the file you provided, deleting old users on list 1, successfully.

I am terribly sorry about the oversight that caused this.  I hope too many of your changes were not overwritten.  If they were, please let me know if I can assist by recovering the data from the backup I made before doing the above.
