changes in editconf.php don't reflect in messages
« on: June 22, 2006, 10:50:50 am »
Hi everyone,

Ugh! This is tough.

I made some changes to the text that appears in the confirmation email in the editconf.php file and uploaded it to my server, but I still get the same default message.

I verified the updated file is on my sever and tested it with two different browsers. I still get the default message. What's up with this?

(a little frustrated) Roger

Most likely your server has cached the files... I'd say wait a few hours and try again, or contact your host about it.
Thanks,

Brett,

Thanks so much. That makes a lot of sense.

Roger,

You should not edit the editconf.php file - the text you found and changed in there is likely the "default" data for when you first do your installation or when you create a new list.

I think you're talking about the "Welcome" and "Confirmation" messages sent (if enabled) when users subscribe to your list(s). You can edit these on the "List Settings" page in the "Welcome & Confirmation" section for each list. Click "Edit Message" next to the following text:
Quote
Send confirmation email (double opt-in) on signup to verify deliverability
[ Edit Message ]
Send welcome email on signup or when confirmed
[ Edit Message ]

Please let me know if I can be of further assistance!

Hi Dean,

The message I'm referring to is this:

Thanks for signing up, roger.
Your email address me@meandmymouse.com will be kept safe!

You will receive an introductory email in a moment.

It comes from this file:

mail/ListMail_v185/signup.php

Ideally, I'd like to send subscribers to my html welcome page. Is this something I can do?

Roger

Never mind Dean. It's amazing what you learn when you read ALL the directions.

Thanks for a great product!
