Dailymail -- definition of what is sent
« on: December 05, 2004, 01:59:31 pm »
Hi,

I was hoping to clarify exactly what is sent by Dailymail when it executes correctly.

Would it send everything due at the point of execution?

Or would it send everything due -- and also anything overdue?

Eg if I added a followup on day x would the next dailymail execution send that followup to everybody who has not already received it and is past day x?

I did search for an existing clarification of this but couldn't find anything.

Thanks,

Rob

It is my understanding that each time DailyMail is run, it assumes one day has passed. So if it doesn't run for a week, none of the day counters get changed for that week. Once it resumes, then only one day's worth of followups will be sent even though they are all a week behind. You can click the "Daily Mail" button as many times as you want. Each click will act as though one day has passed and the appropriate followups for that "day" will be sent.

Chris has it right.

1.  Followups are sent.  This happens when a user has the sequence number of a followup that exists and (the user) has a delay of 0.  When a user is sent the last followup, they are set to the next sequence number (one above the last followup) with a delay of 0 automatically.  Therefore, if you add a new followup the user will receive that followup the next dailymail or later on if the delay is increased when creating the followup.

2.  Scheduled messages are sent.   Messages set for the exact day AND any unsent messages from previous days are sent.

3. Bounce by mailbox processing.

4. General maintenance and reporting.
