Bouncing emails NOT WORKING Dean...
« on: April 26, 2007, 05:53:20 am »
Hi Dean,

Well as you know I finally got ListMailPro to work with SMTP on my server after a configuration change on EXIM by EV1. But for the life of me the bounce feature just isn't hunting at all...

Do I need to check the Use an email account as well and add a password and define and email called bounce to make this work ?

Please advise..

Thanks

Christopher

Christopher,

With bounce.cgi enabled you should not need to enter anything for the email account settings.  The "Bounce to email" should be a new address, such as bounce@example.com with example.com being your ListMail domain.  This address should not exist as an email account but rather a forwarder.

I can't recall... does your site run on CPanel?  If so, these instructions should work.

Hi Dean,

I now know where your setup confused me.

In the Bounced Message Handling section what confused me is this..

At the bottom you specify

Bounce to email address    Delete users if they bounce

But I did not realize that the settings specified here actually directly tie into the the Bounce.cgi option.  Might I make a User Interface Suggestion to prevent future confusion for other users.

Redo this Bounced Message Handling section such that the
Bounce to email address    Delete users if they bounce
ends up directly under the Bounce.cgi option and INDENTED so you
know that they are related.

I will change the email in my configuration settings to the email I specified in my CPANEL Mail forward settings and give that a try.
