Multiple templates folders possible with ListMailPro?
« on: January 22, 2007, 01:58:44 pm »
I would really like to have multiple folders where I could store email templates.  That possible?  For example: I have a four week online class.  Each week I want to send-out specific emails.  IF a folder could be created for each week, and email templates created and stored inside each folder... then I could email them accordingly.  Is this possible with ListMailPro?

Mozilla Thunderbird browser has one folder for Templates.  But it is not possible to create multiple folders.  I wish it had that capability.  THAT is what I would find terrific in ListMailPro!

Greetings,

Thinking on this, a folder extension to the Quick Save menu might help you here.  Thinking further, could you not make use of the existing followup "Saved Sets" feature?  You could set up your courses complete with timing in each of these sets and apply them to your list(s) manually or automatically with the "Scheduler" -> "Followups" feature. or "Followup Options" section of the "List Settings" page.

Help instructions are kind of over-my-head

Thank you for your reply.    I will try to follow what you described.

I am not a technical type (ie: not real bright with such programming).  I find instructions such as found in this Help file to be nearly impossible to follow:

Cron-style Followups (v1.85)
Perhaps the most powerful followup feature ever put into a mailing list program! ListMail lets you input a 3 field cron (or crontab) string to determine when to deliver your next followup. To use this feature, click "Cron" next to "Delay" on a followup add or edit page and enter your string.

I wish I were smarter or that your program was more "windows" oriented instead of "DOS"-like!  But thanks.  I will hang-in there for a bit more and try to make it do what I need.

Are there instructions on how to do a folder extension to the Quick Save menu, as suggested?

Indeed this feature is, perhaps, one of the more difficult.  The majority of users do not need to use cron-style followups - simply setting a "Delay" between each followup will usually suffice.  If you want to figure this one out consider the example entries on the help page and check out some general information about cron, such as this Wikipedia page.  ListMail basically takes the normal 5 field cron and turns it into a 3 field cron, ignoring the minutes and hours.

I'm sure you are far smarter than everyone on this forum at certain things - unfortunately we can't learn everything now can we!  ListMail is quite technical but with persistence it will all become familiar to you.  If you decide it's too much work and it's within 8 weeks of purchase I have no problem issuing a refund at your request - no hard feelings. :)

No, unfortunately - this suggestion was simply a brainstorm for a possible future feature.

Have you seen the "Followups" -> "Saved Sets" page?  Here you can create series' of messages and apply them to your lists.  When applied to a list, and the users reset to the first message (ie. Seq #1), these messages will start being sent out automatically based on the timing (Seq & Delay) in the days, weeks and months that follow.  This feature should be perfect for setting up a number of courses before applying them to your list(s).  The feature I mentioned previously ("Scheduler" -> "Followups") and the "Followup Options" on the "List Settings" page for each list will help you apply these sets to your list automatically.

Please let me know if I can be of further assistance!
