DailyMail stopped working on the 1st Feb
« on: February 07, 2006, 03:49:03 pm »
Hi all,

I noticed yesterday my follow ups where not being sent at 12am and I'd stopped receiving Reports.

I've been onto my host supplier and he says there is nothing wrong at his end.

I then went through my deleted emails and checked the reports and I have found it stopped working on the 1st of Feb, 31st Jan being the last day it sent out.

I've checked the cron and it is ok I even changed it to send every 1 min but no luck.

Anybody got an idea what could have caused this.

Hope you can help
John

When it works and then stops working it is very likely that a change happened at your host.  It is possible, for example, that your host removed or moved the "/usr/bin/wget" program used by the ListMailPRO cron task.  It is also possible that SMTP was changed... Can you get test emails to your lists out using SMTP?  PHP mail() is used for welcome, confirmation, and some notification emails (such as the dailymail report) - can you receive welcome and/or confirmation messages ok?

Hi,

Test emails do work ok.

and I do receive welcome and confirmation emails when I join the list

How can I test the wget? it says in the manual "Type "which wget" at the prompt", what does this mean can you explain please.

It certainly seems to be pointing towards my host cos I have just tried it on another domain it it won't work and I had the cron at every minute.

What can i ask my host as he does say his end is ok?

You should tell your host that you use the /usr/bin/wget program in your cron task and ask whether or not the program was moved, renamed, or removed.

asked them again and they say its not changed.

they say cron jobs are all working ok on the servers.

is there another cron I could use or does it have to be the one from the manual?

I've just run DailyMail manually and it has worked ok, I received the report and a Followup.

I don't understand this it works this way but not with the cron?

Running dailymail manually is somewhat different than loading it via cron.  Most notably, the "dailymail password" is not verified.  Have you changed your dailymail password recently?  If the password for the cron task doesn't match the one in ListMail dailymail will not run.  For best results copy & paste the password from the cron task into ListMail.
