Listmail Pro & Habeas Safelist intergration?
« on: February 17, 2006, 11:32:00 am »
Hi DW,

*** I have updated this post after doing some research on "safelists" for free email servers ***

Question:

(1) Is or will LMP have some sort of integration with Habeas SWE™ Warrant Mark or other "safelist" company [which helps get your legitimate email through indiscriminate SPAM filters of freebie email acocunts like yahoo/hotmail, etc].?

My problem:

My emails are not getting through to free email account holders (yahoo, hotmail, etc.) because of the indiscriminate SPAM filters.

My emails (text only, sent to 20 people three times  a month & are permission based) are automatically routed to their "bulk" or "spam" email folders.

Although, I have advised everyone to please check these folders first before contacting me, they forget then email me to complain where is there newsletter.

Don't know if others are experiecing this problem, but I've tried from different domain names and still have the same difficulties (LMP is not at fault, but due to the changing spam filters, I find that it is affected)

Hope to hear from you soon and thanks for a great script!
Jess

P.S. Habeas requires a separate license which is not a pain if it helps people with free email account receive my emails.

Jess,

Your host should be able to check the mail logs and follow any URLs returned by Yahoo, HotMail, etc.  It is a good idea (for your host) to write them, if necessary, to give them information about the server and reassure them you(r host) take action against spammers. HotMail may simply be disallowing further emails from the server due to volume.  Being blocked not uncommon on shared hosts who place a very large number of users per server.

If you are having trouble finding an adequate host it sounds like you're a candidate for my invite-only hosting.  All of our email is cycled through a number of IPs and action is taken in the event of a block, especially fom the major providers.

I have also set up a script on the host to automatically follow ListMailPRO remove links in messages reported as spam by AOL Feedback.  This results in fewer complaints logged against your messages.

With Yahoo you can apply for permanent exemption from the bulk mail folder but you need your own dedicated server.  This can be expensive.  I can set up a server for $250 and manage it for $40/mo.  The server provider I recommend costs $70/mo for a server.  You can obtain 10 IPs and rotate through them (not necessary except with large lists >200k or so) for an additional $85 for the patch.

Delivery is host dependant.  Your host needs to check the mail logs and take action when necessary to get the server de-listed.  In my experience with the major providers they send you a number of questions, you reply, and then have far fewer troubles with delivery.

On some of my servers I have few troubles with blocking when sending from a single IP with ~10 users all sending email to lists from 1000-100000 emailed daily.
