SMTP config problem
« on: June 15, 2007, 04:45:40 pm »
I'm getting the following message when testing my Mail Settings:
Is enabled?  Yes
Connecting to SMTP server.. Connected!
Sending test email to remote address.. Problem setting receiver to Remote Test Address
The SMTP server is not configured correctly. Check your settings.

On the configuratin I have host=localhost, port=25 and reconnect every 1000 emails.

Any ideas,
Thanks,
Alex

Hi Alex,

If bounce is disabled you will want to make sure your Administrator Email is an address on the ListMail domain.  Otherwise, make sure the "Bounce to Email" is on the ListMail domain.

On some hosts every email account used in ListMail needs to exist in your control panel as a mailbox or forwarder.

This could also be a somewhat known but rare problem where Test Mail Settings doesn't do it's job.  Try sending a message to a test list with "Write SMTP log" enabled.  Check the log and you should receive a more informative error message.

this is THE solution !
"...If bounce is disabled you will want to make sure your Administrator Email is an address on the ListMail domain.  Otherwise, make sure the "Bounce to Email" is on the ListMail domain."

Write again in the "Bounce adress case" the admin email or the test will fail !!!
Don't let "bounce@yourdomain.com" or it fails.

Thanks
