Dailymail listing mail as sent, when it hasn't
« on: November 24, 2005, 04:24:23 am »
Hi, I've subscribed my own email address to all my lists to make sure the lists are sending correctly.
Sending an email directly works fine, but I am currently experiencing a lot of problems with my internet connection, with it dropping out for 10 minutes or so randomly throughout the day - when sending mails this is a problem, as pressing resume has sent me multiple copies of the same email.

I scheduled several mailings yesterday, which are all listed as being executed and successfully sent by dailymail, however I've not received any emails.

Any ideas?

Incidently, if possible it would be nice to add a feature to allow sending of a mailing directly, without having to keep the monitor page open.

ListMail attempts to send all email to the server and is usually very good about it.  While it is possible there was a miscommunication and ListMail 'cycled' through all of the messages without the server accepting them, it is a very rare occurrence.  Could it be that delivery of your messages were simply delayed?  Have you since received them?

Duplicates are possible if you resume before the first send is complete.  The next update of ListMail will feature a protection feature to prevent duplicates when resuming.  Basically, each queue will update a table every 2 minutes.  Once a queue has not responded in over 2 minutes you will be able to resume it, but not before.  The problem is that when you hit "Stop" on the browser the script can run for an additional minute or so before finally 'timing out'.  Some servers might continue running longer.

As for background sending,I plan to implement this as a feature/option soon.  You may find the following post useful:
