Signup E-mail does NOT work
« on: August 16, 2005, 08:43:04 am »
I receive a SUCCESS message when hitting the Testing button, but when I sign up on my site - https://mycyberaccountant.com/free_tax_tips.html - no confirm e-mail is ever sent and the new user name never shows up in the User Database.

I think I followed all the instructions to change & move files around, but the instructions were a little vague for a non-programmer like me to follow.  Obviously something isn't working correctly.

Any ideas how to figure out the error and make it work?

Welcome, confirmation, and notification emails all use "internal PHP mail()" even with SMTP enabled.  This is to prevent too many connections to the SMTP server.  Try changing your mailing method to "internal PHP mail()" instead of SMTP and see if you can get a message through to a test list.  If you can't, you might want to talk to your host about the availability of this PHP function.

If you continue to have troubles I can run some tests on your server.  Rarely, certain "send from" and "bounce to" addresses can cause problems with mailing.
