Anyone out there, I need some help. I am trying to upload a CSV file. My problem is on the list I uploaded before, the formate is different, Exp: e-mail address, first name, last name, changes to first name, last name, e-mail address,.  My problem is I need to know the steps to set up the custom fields so it can be imported into the old list. I tried to start a new list and set up the new custom fields but it still won't work. Please help.

Greetings,

A ListMail list can accept first name, last name, email address, a few other fields, and up to 10 custom fields.

Are you uploading a list previously exported from ListMail, or are you importing a list from another program?  Are there not enough fields in ListMail?

I'm sorry I don't think that I fully understand the problem... can you give me some more details?

Hi Dean,
Thanks for replying. The problem is that when I try to inport the CSV file, nothing works. I have tried to change the custom fields to match the new CSV file and it still don't work. It gets to the last screen and everything stops. I have tried to set up a new list and set up the custom fields to match the new file, but it still doesn't work. I think that I am not setting up the fields correctly. Because a couple of times when I tried to import the list, it said the e-mails were invalid. So. I need to know exactly how to set these custom fields up so I can make sure I'm doing it right.
          Thanks for your help.

Hello again,
I have found the ten custom fields. My question is had I supposed to put the first name, last name, and e-mail address in these fields or do I set them up somewhere else. I get to the screen where it says to match the fields up with your csv file and then hit continue. I must be doing something wrong at this point because when I hit continue, it comes up and says that all of them is bad e-mail addresses. PLEASE HELP!!!

You should not use custom fields for first name, last name, or email address fields.  The 10 fields are for data in addition to these 3 fields.   Choose "Email Address" next to the field containing the email address.

Hi Dean,
My CSV file is set up as first name, last name, e-mail address with some added fields. Where do I go to fill in the first name, last name, and e-mail address or to see which order these are set up in? There must be something wrong because it still comes up with bad e-mails when it finishes. Most of the time, when it gets to the last page, it doesn't do anything. It says this may take awhile and I have given it over 30 minutes and still nothing happens. Then when I try to upload them again, I just get bad e-mail addresses.

Please submit a support ticket that includes the filename you are trying to import.  Also upload the file via FTP to your ListMail folder so I can check this out.
