Can't use my host server for ListMail anymore
« on: March 31, 2006, 02:47:29 pm »
I'm in a panic!
My hosting service, web.com has stopped me from sending mail, unless I slow it down to one/ minute or something much less than we're set at now.
Dean, can you change the script to send a message every 10 seconds?

I need to find a new server, and fast.  Got any suggestions?

Can I use a server that is independent from where my website is hosted?

These may be stupid questions, but I'm really in the dark about this stuff.

Appreciate your help.

Victoria,

The extraordinary delays enforced by your host are simply not friendly for an email list publisher.  You can slow down sending to every 10 seconds on the ListMail configuration page. This is not possible with SMTP, however, which is recommended for reliability

I can offer email-friendly hosting starting at $15/mo for up to 15,000 addresses emailed once or twice a day.  If you require hosting for larger lists I charge about $1/mo per 1,000 users with discounts for very large lists.  My service is invite-only so please forward some very specific details about your collection of subscribers, frequency of mailings, etc. via email at dean@listmailpro.com  Also note that I do not allow importing of purchased or otherwise 'obtained' lists as these lists often contain spam-trap addresses that are bad for the server's reputation.

You can certainly register a new domain and host it with me.   It's also possible to create a subdomain on your existing domain, providing your web host would be willing to make a single DNS change on your domain.
