SMTP configuration
« on: May 16, 2005, 09:43:05 am »
Okay, I have moved my site over  to the new server and keep getting the message that: Sending test email to remote address.. Problem setting receiver to Remote Test Address
The SMTP server is not configured correctly. Check your settings.

In checking with the web host's knowledgebase they say:

the list must be "throttled" (I don't know what that is) to sending 1 email every 6 seconds.

Is there a way to set that in the script?

Thanks!

Jude,

You may not be authenticated properly with the SMTP server - check out the following post:

ListMail runs best on hosts with no throttling or email limits whatsoever.  If your host requires you to send 1 email every 6 seconds you will need to use the "internal PHP mail" option of sending, instead of SMTP, with the correct delays configured.  This option is less reliable and will, obviously, take a LOT longer than sending with SMTP. :(
