sending stalls
« on: April 09, 2007, 11:11:33 am »
Hi, I have been fighting a server that won't stop stalling... if the que is empty ListMail  will "send" about 25,000 emails, then stall.   Very frustrating not running thru and finishing a job..  I've had servers in the past that would take 100,000  and more straight thru with no problem.  But this one is driving me nuts!!!  any ideas what causes this?

thnx

Nope, but a real simple solution is to use the auto-resume cron tab option, works like a charm!  Do a search in the forum, not sure if it's in the docs...

Russ,

Have you tried enabling the SMTP log?  Where does it stall?

1. Could there be a per-connection limit (does it always stall after the same # of emails?)

2. Could there be a script execution time limit (does it always stall after approximately the same # of emails, or after the same amount of time (hard to test with 25,000 required to cause it, I understand...))  Here's a test script

3. Could there be an unexplained timeout, such as mentioned in this post?
