How to maintain Unique ID with Import/Export?
« on: October 18, 2005, 01:30:01 pm »
Hello,

Here's my problem, when I do an EXPORT, I can choose to EXPORT the Unique ID field, but when I choose to IMPORT, I can NOT assign that field to the Unique ID field in the database?  When I do the IMPORT, and then go into PhpMyAdmin, I see that the Unique ID is not longer the same for every user in the new database?

DW, just wondering, if that would AFFECT how someone removes themselves from ALL lists?

Should that Unique ID be the SAME ID, if the person is also in another list?  If so, than HOW do I go about importing the correct Unique ID from my previously Exported databases?

Secondly, if it does NOT matter, than why not REMOVE the Unique ID from the Export as it is only confusing things.... there's no use for it... unless you can think of one?
Thanks,
-Brett

Each user in each list currently has their own UID.  The same email address, if it exists on more than one list, can have multiple UIDs.

No, this will not be affected.  Global removal obtains the user's email address based on their UID then removes all users (different UIDs) with the same (case-insensitive) email address.

The UID could be useful for those wanting to export and import data into other scripts that use the value for updating ListMail records.
