Hi Dean,

Great to see you're back again!  Just this last week, I tried something new, and am running into a problem.  I'm doing a reconfirmation campaign with my main list of about 4450 subscribers, and to make it easy for them, I've created a new list, and imported everyone into the list selecting the "confirmation and welcome" option.

It appears that all the imported subscribers are added to the list as unconfirmed, and that the mailing for the confirmation messages is going out as expected.  In fact, everything seems to work until dailymail runs the next day, and then anyone who had not yet confirmed is deleted out of the database.

In the ListMail configuration, I have it set to wait 21 days before deleting unconfirmed users.

Any idea what may be going wrong here?

P.S.  Not to ruffle any feathers here, but is there any news about possible updates to LMP?

I've tried a few others, but none have been as rock-solid as LMP.

Hi Alan,

The issue is caused by importing the old "Date Added" field.  If you omit this field the date will be re-generated and the problem will not occur.  I will make a note and consider how this situation can be improved or at least be made obvious.

An update is being worked on but there is much to be done yet.

WOW, you were quick!

Yes, I had just thought of that too, and came back to post a resolution.

Regarding the next version of LMP, I know you want to do a lot with it.  As we've been saying for years, it doesn't have to be perfect.  Incremental improvements are welcome.

Great news, can you tell us if you are including support for Transactional Email Providers: Amazon SES, Mandrill, etc?  That would make a huge difference, as I am finding that running my own server, even with SPF, DKIM, FBLs setup is next to impossible to get a decent delivery rate.

Great news, can you tell us if you are including support for Transactional Email Providers: Amazon SES, Mandrill, etc?  That would make a huge difference, as I am finding that running my own server, even with SPF, DKIM, FBLs setup is next to impossible to get a decent delivery rate.

My understanding is Amazon SES supports SMTP sending.  You may be able to use it now for your bulk mailings.

LMP's entire email-sending PHP mail/SMTP process has been rewritten into one single class so add-ons will be much more straightforward and easy to implement in the future.

It does, BUT, you also have to have very specific things in place regarding the FBL feedback loops so you can REMOVE someone immediately that bounces and/or complains about the email they receive.  You HAVE to do that, because if you do not, you will be re-sending to someone and increase your chances that Amazon will ban you from use of their services. 

You also have to make sure that you are aware of your current Quota (available to send), as you are only allowed so many emails every 24 hours.  They ramp you up, over time, I don't have to worry as I'm now up to 1M (1 million emails)/24 hours, so I never hit my quota, but it was important when starting out - they start you at 10,000/24 hours, and you would certainly have to be monitoring that.

So, even though you CAN send  using Amazon SMTP, it's not the most effective, and reliable way to be sending. Instead, it's better to integrate with Amazon SNS (Simple Notification System), and you have that send notifications to your software anytime someone Complains, or Bounces, and you remove them immediately.  That's about the only way you're going to be able to send large volumes with Amazon SES.

I don't believe this is something that ListMailPRO can do now, but if you have an updated version that can do these things, I would be happy to test out for you, just let me know how to get a hold of the new version?
