Author Topic: Mail distribution program stopped!!!! (Read 3444 times)

I am sending out a newsletter tonight according my hosts's specs. List is no more than 1000. Disconnects from your server every 10. Please advise!!!!

The error message is:

Sending to server: 450 of 894

Sending error. Check your mail settings.

Server said:
354 Enter message, ending with "." on a line by itself

The email program is at <edit>

I have sent the previous message to my mail hosting company and am waiting for a response. The error message also says:

If your mailing stops for any reason you can simply and safely resume sending.

I have asked them shall I "resume?"

What do you think?

I received from my mail host company the message:
'The message "'354 Enter message, ending with ." is common message
provided by the recipient mail server. It means the receiving system is giving a go ahead to begin sending the message. '

That was a few hours after I started sending the batch of 900. So I hit the "Resume" button. I immediately got back a message saying the mailing was complete. However, I did not see a link for the SMTP report I requested. Can I be confident that the newsletter did, indeed, go out to the remaining addresses after it stopped at 450?

Hi Paul,

Please never submit your sensitive information to the forum. If you need to submit your ListMail URL and password please visit http://listmailpro.com/support or email me directly via http://contact.listmailpro.com. Your information was in plain view for everyone to see for upwards of 24 hours. I recommend changing your ListMail admin password as soon as possible.

Your host may be doing DNS lookups on the fly, making each message take much longer to queue.Try setting this in config.php:

$smtp_timeout = 45;
Please search the forum for "smtp_timeout" for more information.

Re: DNS lookups on the fly

I could find no variable $smtp_timeout

in config.php

do I just add it and set it to 45?

Yes it can be added anywhere between the opening <?php and closing ?> tags. I recommend just after the SQL config.
