Hey, its alton here....,
.
I know perhaps in prospective, its call my' ISP.
I did. The representative gave me gerneral information
on file in my account suchas following:
*POP3
*Incoming mail setting
*Outgoing mail setting
*Username........etc
But, I have access to them things by opening outlook express
and click on "tools" tab ,then click accounts in the menu.
I do not understand why an ISP representative
respond in a hesitant way relating to part of my' questions.
However, unfortunate 'sqlhost' ; and 'sqldb' information
is not publicly listed in my email account data.
Although I set 'sqlhost' = to 'localhost' as default.
I went online and did some research on 'sqldb', and
its described as a database management program for the
big corporate guys. Other than that, I do not
have a certain clue yet, what my' ISP sqldb is.
I can change the data in 'sqldb' query,
it cause no effect do to the changes.
.
Subject of my' query is:
That I have edit the config.php.txt file properly,
accordingly to the best of my' knowledge it
I have excess to go by.
I have uploaded files with FTP, I set /attach permissions
to 755 and configure the config.php file.
I click any ListMail file link in my' "host directory"
it uploads my website. Although, the login box I
have never had access to it..
.
Do you have any suggestions?
.
Supplicate regards,
.
alton...,

Hi Alton,

I would define your home/work internet provider as your ISP and your domain-name-based paid web site hosting your web host.  ListMail should work with your web host's settings and never your ISPs.  In the control panel on your web host you should be able to set up things like email accounts and MySQL databases for your web site.  A MySQL database is a data storage system that can be used by your site's Perl or PHP scripts.  Perl and PHP are advanced programming languages behind the HTML, interacting with the database and processing "variables" such as submitted information and then outputting the result HTML to the visitor.  To use MySQL databases you need to define (or be provided) a database, username and password for setting up in your script (like ListMail).  This is usually done in your web host control panel in the "MySQL" or "Databases" section.  Your ISP is unlikely to provide advanced web hosting services such as MySQL or domain-based hosting (though some do a little bit of this).  Also they are unlikely to allow commercial email to be sent from their servers.  Therefore, if you in fact called your ISP and not your web host this might be why they hesitated.

Please let me know if I can be of further assistance!

Problem continues config.php file don't connect to server?

Hey,
.
Its alton here...,
.
Subject: Problem continues config.php file don't connect to server?
.
Teu Jan 09, 2007 = I posted a new topic related to I setup my config.php file
with informations I attained from my ISP <internet service provider>
account.
.
Anyway, you directed me to the control panel to my' web host'
provider. I found the features there you mentioned to look for there
such as (email accounts, and MySQL databases), Perl or PHP
capable also listed in my host control panel web page.
.
The previous subject this query is addressing was,
I have never gain access to the ListMail login box?
Which is where I've been working on now for quiet
sometime. Before I am able to advance the
ListMailPro setup, I must connect to
the config.php file script on my host server.
But, ListMail script hasn't never connected
to my host server. But the directories and
files links are bridged capable to upload the
website.
.
Nevertheless, although I when ahead over
to my web host control panel.
Setup a MySQL database successfully.
.
I removed my' ISP account information from
the config.php file. Then replaced the
information to the config.php file
with the information that my MySQL database
setup created as follow:
.
$sqlhost = 'localhost';
$sqluser = 'somebody';
$sqlpass = 'whatever';
$sqldb = 'sunnyday-12345';
.
Another thing thats not clear to me.
What determines which <$sqlhost = 'localhost';>,
is the proper  $sqlhost = to list in that query
field?
.
For instance, in my' host MySQL database
that I setup. this piece of information is in
the server field <sql.serverdomainname.com>.
.
Will that work in the ($sqlhost =) field.
If not. Why want my web host server
domain created in my web host MySQL database
function here as same as entering 'localhost'
into the field?
.
Anyway, basically right now my most urgent
challenge is getting the config.php file script to
connect to the server.
.
Thanks,
.
alton

Hi Alton,

Sorry about the delay - we're snowed in and have had some power outages.   It sounds like you're on the right track - you've created a database, username and password and (this is required on some hosts) added the user to have permission to the database.

ListMail should, of course, be uploaded to your web host/site and be browsed to with your web browser in order to initiate the ListMail script and necessary database connection.

the server field sql.serverdomainname.com.

You will likely need to use this value in place of the default "localhost" in ListMail's config.php in order for the connection to work.
