Upgrade from ancient Listmail to 1.87d
« on: March 14, 2007, 09:36:15 pm »
Trying to upgrade from 1.5 or below??? - to 1.87d.

I can do a fresh install of the 1.87d version but I cannot seem to bring my old lists and config data in.  I have tried the BackUp&Restore feature and importing through PHPMyAdmin.  I noticed the new version has about 19 tables, and my old version had about 13.  What to do, what to do?

Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

All past ListMail updates are included and applied incrementally.  You should be able to simply upload the most recent files and browse to the ListMail login page for any required database updates to take effect.  Please let me know if this does not work for you.

Thank you for your prompt response.  It hasn't worked for me.  I have been trying to get it to work for me for 10 hours straight now....  but I'll give it one more shot going from 1.62 (the last version I could get to work) to 1.87d.  Kinda like Groundhogs day...  I'll post back the results shortly.

After a complete and successful reinstall of 1.65 with all my data restored, I uploaded 1.87d for upgrade and surfed over to http://www.mydomain.com/mylistmaildirectory and.....
I get:
"To install, enter "install" as the password."
The database upgrade does not happen.

If I enter "install" it gives me:
Creating config database table lm_config - **Error creating lm_config! Table 'lm_config' already exists
Is the database login information in CONFIG.PHP correct? Did you already run install?

If I try to go to Configuration page I get:
Installation ID: (NONE)

And from there we're back to the multiple restores through LM and phpMyAdmin that I've tried.

This is my 15th re-install attempt.... Any thoughts?

Thanks, I have identified a bug where installations before 1.65 were not able to be updated automatically.  I had to modify the bottom of admin.php to set the $installed variable correctly (without using the "instid" field added in v1.65). Backward compatibility will be fixed next update.
