Listmailpro messages blocked by bulk or spam filters
« on: May 31, 2005, 05:03:29 am »
I have a few email accounts which have spam or bulk email filters on them such as my yahoo account.  When I send email from the Listmailpro control panel it gets blocked or sent straight to the bulk email folder of these accounts.

I've signed up for a few newsletter lists and they get through just fine as well as reponses from various contact forms.

Any way to make Listmailpro send mail so it functions like a regular newsletter list so it doesn't get blocked?

thanks!

The blocking may have to do with what IP address you are sending the email from.

Lots of ISP's block email because the IP address is on one or more blockllists.  So see what IP address your email is being sent from, using the Received headers.  Then check out some sites like

http://openrbl.org/ or http://www.dnsstuff.com/

Web hosting companies typically have problems keeping their IP addresses off of the blocklists.

Hope that helps.

Can you recommend a hosting company for $10/mo or less that is NOT ON THE block lists?

Thanks!

Other suggestions for email being blocked?
I looked up the ip in the header from my server which is 209.59.155.2 on those 2 urls.

I couldn't see any serious blockage issues (unless I'm not reading it right).

Any other suggestions why emails coming from ListMailPro are being blocked whereas regular newsletter lists I'm subscribed to are not?

Thanks!

Shaun

I was reading through this post and had an idea.

Try this:

Copy one of the emails that come through. Create a test list in LMP and set up your address. Then select that list and use send mail to paste the copy into and send it out. If it comes through you may have word list issues.

I had a lot of trouble with aol and yahoo users not accepting mail and finally just removed them all from my list. Sometimes that is just the way things go.
How do you know when you know what you want to do for the rest of your life?

Hardly the case, removing ALL of these users will reduce your list by half I would guess!   Certainly it's much better to try to determine the reason why your emails are not getting through.

As suggested it may be because your host is on a blocked list, or that you are using words in your message that trigger the BULK MAIL filter at Yahoo or AOL.

The only way to guarantee delivery is to offer a White Listing page with detailed instructions on how others can add you to their own filters, or address book so that your email messages are delivered.

Good luck, if you find any enlightening news please let us know.

If an AOL/HotMail user adds you to their whitelist will a message normally blocked (for sending too fast or because of a URL block) get through?  :?

That's a good question, I don't know.... I don't think it will get through thoug because I believe the URL Block OVERRIDES (supercedes) the personal Email Address Whitelisting...

I don't have time to try to get this answered, I'd appreciate it if you asked AOL this question as I am curious too what the answer is?

Please let us know with a post up here to this thread when you find out...
