People receiving the same message more than once
« on: December 11, 2007, 06:17:50 am »
This is weird, I just changed to thirdsphere. Not too happy about them, not easy to contact them and have support from them.

Maybe you have an idea Dean. I'm sending out mails using the sendmail option. It seems like the first 150 messages are delivered once (not sure of course) and after that, people start receiving the same mail up to FOUR times!

This is only since I moved to thirdsphere hosting. What could be going on here? Never had this before on an other server.

ThirdSphere is a recommended host and I have found them responsive and helpful.  Perhaps they are experiencing some technical difficulties or excessive support requests.

Internal PHP mail is not recommended for list email, although it is used for all Welcome and Confirmation messages.  I recommend switching to SMTP sending with a setting of "localhost" for the host and a "Reconnect" of "1000".

Hey Dean,

It's your resume script being executed every five minutes!

Also, I've used smtp, but mails got delivered after a minute or 10, while sendmail works fine and delivers instantly. Thirdsphere recommended this option by the way after I mailed.

Got a response within 24 hours this time WITH a solution, which comes in handy.

I also mailed you for my support on CSS, you can get my help if you like :)

Hmm, perhaps there is an issue where running queues are resumed when the PHP mail option is used.  If you suspect this I highly recommend disabling the resume script.  I will make a note to investigate this.
