Please Help - Urgent
« on: April 06, 2005, 08:18:07 am »
Hi,

My users are getting this error when the confirm:

"Your email address was not found. You must confirm within 10 days or else re-subscribe."

And they are in the database.  Why is this happening.  I need to resolve this asap.

Thanks.

Is this happening a lot?  This can happen if a subscriber refreshes the "Signup Success" page.  It can cause 2 confirmation emails, one of which does not work.

If you still think this is serious, include mention of it in the note when you submit your support ticket.

It happened twice.  I just installed ListMail a few days ago.  I'm not exactly sure what my users are doing to make this happen.

Also, there are quite a few unconfirmed users in my database.  How do I resolve this?

Are you sure the process is working?  Have you tried doing some test signup / confirming of your own on each list?

It's possible the unconfirmed users are normal.  Do you see a lot of typos in their email addresses?  If so, then it's likely these users did not receive the confirmation email because they made a mistake when subscribing.

Yes.  The process is working because I performing tons of tests as we speak.  Currently, there are 33 people in my unconfirmed section.  This is a high number for us.

Please submit your information so I can check into everything directly and do some file-based troubleshooting if necessary.

The control panel is where you login to your web host to modify your account settings.  Here you might set up email addresses and other aspects of your hosting.

I see that almost all of your unconfirmed users are at AOL, Yahoo, or HotMail.  I suspect that there are other users on your server sending large amounts of email causing you to not be able to get email through to these ISPs.  Your only option is to either switch hosts, get a dedicated server, or rely on response from people not using Free accounts (maybe mention that on your site).  Your server admin also might be able to apply for "whitelisting" from AOL at http://postmaster.aol.com

But this doesn't make sense because you will see that there are plenty of "active" users with HotMail, Yahoo and AOL accounts.

Blocking such as I mentioned is usually temporary, so some email could get through while others do not.  AOL can also temporarily or permanently blacklist messages containing certain URLs or domain names. :(  I wish I could tell you exactly what's happening but delivery issues are usually host or subscriber related.
