Problem sending
« on: July 31, 2005, 08:50:50 am »
Hi,

I just installed the 1.81 on a new machine, copied my old data, all worked fine but sending email. The test gives: cannot find smtp-server, even sending via php is not working. I use the same settings as on my old machine, where it is working fine.

Is there any idea about it?

System: Fedora Core 3, actual patched

Your new host may not have the same settings as your old one.  If you're having trouble sending with both SMTP and PHP then it seems likely that a mail server is not configured on the same computer as the web server.  If your host offers SMTP services at another host address you should be able to find out what the address is and use that for SMTP.  The problem will still remain, however, with PHP mail() and you'll need to ask your host to "enable" it.

Hi Dean,

I use my own mailserver on a dedicated system for sending the mails. It worked with my old installation on another webserver but not with my new installation on this new webserver. Is there anything to do on the local listmail-server? Shouldn´t the php version work without any mailserver?

Greetings
