Very slow mail delivery

I've got LMP installed and running and when I send out emails, they appear to go out right away. But if I log into CPanel and look at the email queue, they are all there.

Only a couple hundred go out initially, then the rest trickle out at the rate of about 600 an hour. So it takes 6-7 hours for all the emails to go out. This is not good, especially for time sensitive offers.

I've checked with my ISP and there are NO limits on the number of emails per hour that I can send, no restrictions of any kind are imposed on any of my accounts.

I have no idea how to make emails go out faster. Is this an SMTP thing -- should I try some other SMTP settings, or maybe the Internal Sendmail PHP mail? I'm at a loss and would appreciate help with this, thanks.

Oops, I meant when I log into WHM, not Cpanel.

Hi Sharon,

If your host is setup as the cPanel default the problem could be that the system has a "queue limit".  That is, SMTP will accept all of your messages but only deliver a certain number before waiting to deliver the rest.  Providing your host is willing to implement it, the optimization found in the following post should help your email be delivered immediately instead of hours later:
