Send an Email function not working
« on: April 24, 2008, 08:12:24 am »
Hello Dean,

I have set up a new list where people automatically go into when they buy something from my website. I have sent out an email to the database including myself in this too so I can test what goes out.

Even though the response confirmed the email has been sent to the group I have not received the email. The sign up email is sent out without any problems.

I have checked to see if they have bounced but no one is listed there...please can you advise why this may be happening.

Thank you,

Sharon

I said that the sign up email was sending out OK but after testing this again, that email is not automatically going out even though it was initially...please can you help.

Thank you,

It is more difficult to troubleshoot welcome messages as they are sent with the PHP mail function.  If they worked before they should continue to work.  Perhaps there was a temporary bottleneck in the server mail queue.  Did you eventually receive these messages?

To test standard mail-outs you can enable the "Write SMTP Log" option.  The SMTP log ListMail writes will at least tell you whether or not the messages were accepted by the SMTP server for sending.  After that, it's a matter of the SMTP server getting around to sending the messages.  Some hosting optimizations could be needed.
