bounce message
« Reply #1 on: August 23, 2007, 06:44:59 pm »
Hi SanJ,

I've seen this on some installations - it seems some servers do not properly return the sent message.  This could be due to forwarding or other reason.

There is a fix but it is fairly involved.  What seems to work is adding an additional header to all email containing the original address delivered to and then using that to bounce the user if it is returned.

In admin.php near line 1385 find this:
Code: [Select]
    $header .="X-Mailer: ListMail v$ver";
Change it to this:
Code: [Select]
    $header .="X-Mailer: ListMail v$ver$crlf";
     $header .="X-LMP-Recipient: $email";

In admin.php near line 2463 find this:
Code: [Select]
$header .="X-Mailer: ListMail v$ver";
Change it to this:
Code: [Select]
$header .="X-Mailer: ListMail v$ver$crlf";
 $header .="X-LMP-Recipient: $email";

In bounce.php find this:
Code: [Select]
 sendnotif('test_bounce','admin');
  exit();
 }

After that, add this:
Code: [Select]
// LMP recipient returned
 if(strpos($val,'X-LMP-Recipient:') !== false){
  $target = str_replace("\n",'',substr($val,17));
  if($target <> $errmail) bounce($target,$em);
  exit();
 }

Regards
