Setting Up Lists
« on: May 15, 2004, 12:46:48 pm »
I am attempting to create a list.
I have entered 16 and the additional are not being saved.
I try to enter more, and it says that it has been saved.
But after entering 5-6 more they are not being added to
the list.

Have I missed something,

Thanks,
Brad

Brad,

I'm a little confused, but it looks like you are adding users to your list(s).

Perhaps you are simply modifying an existing user and hitting "Save" instead of hitting "Add new User" after saving a user.  I have heard about someone making this mistake before.

The correct sequence of operation is as follows:

1. Hit the "Add New User" button (either in the user listing or when viewing a user's details).

2. Enter the new user information.

3. Hit "Save" to save the new user.

4.  Repeat starting at #1

I am adding users.

I believe the problem was caused by cutting and pasting
the data.

I noticed that after I had pasted data and save the information,
the screen would indicate that it was saved to the proper list, but really wasn't.

After saving that info it would then go to another list on its own.

After manually typing the information, it seems to be
"ok"

I have found that pasting does work most of the time, but not always.

Thanks,
brad

I just started working with ListMail for the past 2 days
and I love it so far.  Great work Dean!!!

Question:
I understand importing HTML messages.

But if the recipient only receives text, how do I include
a website link ( http://www.weblink.com ) or a email
link (brad@weblink.com ) into that message?
Where can I find instructions?

Thanks again,
Brad

Brad,

Simply set up a message code ("Message Codes" -> "Global Codes") of the type "Link to HTML" and use the code in the body of the text message.  (You should still set the subject).

The link will lead the user to their personalized HTML message via their web browser!

1. Click "Message Codes" from the main menu.
2. Click "Global Codes" so that your code will be able to be used from any list in any message.
3. Click "Add New Code"
4. In the "Message code type" dropdown, choose "Link to HTML"
5. Under "Code !name", enter "html"
6. Use the code !html in your messages to output a link to view the HTML section of your message online!

Hope that helps!

When I click on the "Message code type"
"Link to HTML" is not offered in the drop down.

What do you suggest, and thank you so much for
your prompt response.

Upgrade to v1.77b, available from the members area.  Simply overwrite your files in your main ListMail folder, except config.php, and re-login to the program.
