Sending error - mail settings.
« on: August 05, 2007, 09:59:33 am »
Hi there

I'm still quite new at this. Everything was running smoothly but now mail is not being sent. The message I get is this

"Sending error. Check your mail settings.

Server said:
354 Enter message, ending with "." on a line by itself
451 Temporary local problem - please try later"

I have tried sending on numerous occasions but still no luck

Anyone any thoughts on this?

Cheers

Alan

Hi Alan,

Were you able to send out any email before you started getting the error message?  I recommend asking your host if they have any hourly or daily limits on email that might affect your list email.  If there are such limits we may need to throttle sending to meet the hosts policy or you may need to seek a host with a more fair email policy.

Thanks for your response. Yeh I was able to send emails out before and there are no limits/quota applied to my hosting account. It also allows multiple autoresponders. So I'm none the wiser. Any other thoughts?

Alan,

For best results your ListMail "Bounce to email" or (bounce disabled) "Administrator Email" should be on the same domain as ListMail is installed on.  While not always required, the "Send From Email" for your list may also need to be on your ListMail domain. Also not always required, the bounce and from addresses may need to exist in your control panel as an email forwarder or account.

If you aren't using the SMTP AUTH feature, try enabling it using an active mailbox for authentication.
