Admin Setup Problems
« on: June 08, 2004, 03:15:58 pm »
I'm having difficulty getting this configured.  I updated my config.php file with all the appropriate information, uploaded all my scripts to my site, granted 777 access on the attach directory, and installed the MySQL tables.  The problem I'm having now, is that I can't get to update the administrative stuff, or do any of the configuration items (set admin password, etc.)  I use "install" as the default password, and it tells me I'm logged in for about three seconds, and then it tells me that I have to log in again to do whatever I want to do.  In other words, it's not remembering my authentication.  I've purchased a full version.  Anybody know why this is happening, or better yet, how to get past it?

TIA,
Yaneev

Hmm, are cookies enabled in your browser?  (They should be if you haven't manually disabled them..)

Are you using the v1.77b files from the member area?  These files contain a new (cookie-based) authentication method.  The old method (session-based) caused problems, similar to the one you are experiencing, on a few server configurations.

When you are first browsing to the script and type "install" as your password, the program should accept your authentication and then automatically set up the ListMail tables with default data and allow you to use the program.

Cookies are enabled

All cookies are enabled.  I almost think that something in the code is prompting me to log in again.  I'm pretty convinced that the problem is definitely server side, and doesn't have anything to do with browser version, or configuration, since I've tried this from multiple computers, all with no luck.

TIA,
Yaneev

Very strange.. It seems that the database tables are set up but, as you reported, it is not letting you login.  Please submit your hosting information so that I can take a look.

Yaneev,

I would Edit your last post and remove your email address as it's not impossible for someone to harvest addresses from the forum.  You may also want to remove your domain name from the previous posts in this thread to prevent giving away too much information.

On that note, I'm going to give away too much information.  :o After checking out your server with the access info you sent me I think I'm on to something.  It looks like your server is running a very old version of PHP, v4.0.2.  I urge you to ask your host to upgrade this for you.  I suspect that this is the cause of the login problems.

Same "logged out" problem
« Reply #6 on: July 13, 2004, 07:04:55 pm »
I upgraded to 1.77b and now I can not get logged in.  I assume it has something to do with the new authentication (cookies) but I have PHP version 4.3.7 running.

I tried a re-install - tables installed good, then it bounced me out to the log-in page.  Using PW: install again get's a "Admin logged in" message, but then it refreshes to the log-in page and I am logged out again.

Cookies are enabled, and I have tried several browsers.

This problem which happens when upgrading usually goes away on it's own.  Normally you can simply close and re-open your browser, but you reported that you tried it with other browsers..

If this is still happening I can check it out for you.  You can submit your information at the following link:
